Since the late '60s until his death in 2008, David Askevold was a pioneer of experimental video, sound, text or photo. Born in Montana in 1940, he essentially lived in Halifax cordless warming tray in the early 70s, his experimental teaching at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, including its Class Project recently documented by the young Mexican artist Mario Garcia Torres, played a key role in the history of conceptual art. The Askevold work, especially in its infancy, associated systems and structures for systematic elusive narratives to create a universe which seems to escape any stable meaning. Blur, moving, dark shadows and characterize a formal vocabulary exuding disorder and emotion, dark humor too, which distinguishes it from the conceptual practices that are contemporary. Consortium for the first time in 30 years, an exhibition cordless warming tray will bring together a dozen works from the most essential Askevold from late 60s to today. Three major facilities have been restored to structure the exhibition: Kepler's Music of the Spheres (1971 - 1973), Delville's visit (1981), Two Hanks (2002) and a collaboration with Tony Oursler (completed by Tony Oursler after the death of Askevold).
